Introducing the BlackBerry Playbook


BlackBerry PlayBook have been recently introduced into the market. The much awaited tablet from RIM (Research in motion) since the rumors began a couple of months ago and expected an announcement this november but the release comes early. A device that will be soon competing against some of popular tablets like Apple's iPad, Dell Streak and Samsung Galaxy Tab.


Blackberry Playbook has a a 7-inch display multi-touch interface with a  1,024x600 resolution and for a good performance it has 1GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM in a symmetrical dual-core processing, a micro-HDMI output and support for 1080p content and HD video playback. It also features both rear-facing (5MP) and front-facing (3MP) cameras, capable of HD video recording and still photos. It measures 5.1 inches tall, 7.6 inches wide, and 0.4 inch thick, weighing just under a pound approximately 0.9 lb or 400g.

The PlayBook runs an OS that is so called the BlackBerry Tablet OS, which is compatible with a number of BlackBerry services and applications. The BlackBerry tablet OS also supports Adobe Flash Player 10.1, WebKit/HTML-5, Java, Open GL, POSIX, Adobe Reader and Adobe Mobile Air. Supported video formats include H.264, MPEG4, and WMV, up to 1080p HD resolution (scaled down to the screen's lower native resolution) and an audio playback for mp3, aac, wma format.

BlackBerry smartphones users can pair with the PlayBook over Bluetooth connection to provide them with a secure gateway to connect with their BlackBerry e-mail, contacts, calendar, and tasks. BlackBerry phone pairing also allows the PlayBook to take advantage of the phone's cellular data connection for surfing the Web or streaming media, though carriers have yet to weigh in on how far users can take this tethering capability. Wi-Fi connection for PlayBook features an integrated 802.11 a/b/g/n WLAN. Playbook storage capacity is expected to be a 16GB and 32GB.
